The goal was to help users budget, save, and invest confidently by combining expert guidance with intuitive tools. Claro’s ‘do it with me’ approach empowers a smart money mindset, helping users plan and grow their finances while supporting ethical companies that align with their values.
Since this was an entirely new product with no real market benchmarks or competitors, we had to start from the ground up.
Before working on Claro, I captured the business objectives and conducted multiple research methods to gain a deep understanding

Market Analysis
I conducted interviews and surveys to gather insights on user expectations, interest in financial coaching, and target audiences. This data-driven approach gave us clear direction on who we were designing for.
To capture what mattered most to stakeholders, I created a brainstorming canvas to organize and clarify their ideas.
To build a product that delivers real value, we needed to understand our users deeply and design with their needs in mind.
Ran cross-functional workshops to map the user journey and service plans, ensuring the product aligned with both research insights and business goals. A key product focus learnt was the phrases listed below:
Mapping the end to end first-time user journey (happy path) to understand the process from account creation to booking a financial coaching call and starting to invest in their goals.
Booking a financial call was central to the journey, but users could take multiple paths afterward, making it essential to map how each path affects their experience.
After mapping rough user journeys, we created clear, readable documents to capture the end-to-end flow, highlighting typical pain points and key insights from research.
To design a seamless user experience, we focused on mapping key flows onboarding, investing, and KYC working closely with the business and vendors like Onfido to understand each step in the user journey.
To understand how the product could come together, I led a hands-on workshop with the Claro team, each sketching collaboratively to visualise the product main features and value it can bring.
I began creating rough wireframes to visualise the product, using insights from the workshops to ensure it addresses the needs of all users. Below is an example of how the dashboard /home of the product can lead to different key journeys
To gain a better understanding of the wireframes and their functionality, it was essential to test multiple key journeys with users (first time user journey, investing, speaking to financial planners etc) this allowed us to gather insights and patterns to inform a flow design that accurately reflects user needs and solves the key market problem.
Users often felt uncertain about where their money was going after speaking with a financial planner. To solve this, I helped design and develop Claro’s investment feature, making it clear which ETFs and funds users were investing in. The tool supports low, medium, and high-risk ESG options, aligning with Claro’s ethical finance mission and helping users invest with confidence.
Users wanted an easy way to book financial planning sessions and access their info in one place. I designed and built an in-app feature for scheduling one-on-one sessions with Financial Coaches, providing personalised advice and actionable plans in a unified experience.
At the end of each session, users receive a clear financial plan and can contribute monthly or one time to a fund of their choice to build toward their desired goals.
To build accurate financial plans, we connected to users’ bank accounts via Open Banking, securely categorizing transactions and analyzing spending to reveal clear insights into their financial habits.
Created a series of onboarding screens to communicate Claro’s offering and deliver immediate value about what Claro is solving for them.
Created a user-friendly KYC journey that balanced clarity and compliance, helping users understand each step while ensuring legal and privacy standards were met.

Established a consistent visual language through a comprehensive style guide blending brand colors, expressive typography, and a tailored icon set to ensure a seamless user experience.
Built a lean design system with reusable component sets, rigorously tested for usability and accessibility. Using the Atomic Design System as a methodology by breaking interfaces down into smaller, reusable parts similar to how atoms form molecules and organisms in nature. Below is the structure
